Scotland’s Cam­era Obscura will be mak­ing a stop at the Attucks The­atre this Fri­day fresh from some Euro­pean and South­ern United States tour dates. Fans of soft, folksy pop will really enjoy their beau­ti­fully fem­i­nine sound.

Handmade Nation

With the suc­cess of sites like Etsy in the last few years, and with groups like the Sev­enCi­ties Crafters pop­ping up all over the U.S., it was only a mat­ter of time before a doc­u­men­tary like Hand­made Nation showed up. The film doc­u­ments the rise of the new DIY cul­ture, and shows the way it dif­fers in from place to place. And although we wish they would have brought it sooner (the movie goes to DVD on Novem­ber 3rd), we are glad the Naro decided to bring it in for a one-time show­ing this Saturday.

Grizzly Bear

There aren’t many bands out there that can claim to be the lat­est “it” band more than Griz­zly Bear. Their lat­est album, “Veck­a­timest,” is much more acces­si­ble than their pre­vi­ous (crit­i­cally acclaimed) albums, but in all the right ways. The har­monies are beau­ti­ful and spacey; the songs sound like they could have been cre­ated in the 1960’s or yesterday.
