With the success of sites like Etsy in the last few years, and with groups like the SevenCities Crafters popping up all over the U.S., it was only a matter of time before a documentary like Handmade Nation showed up. The film documents the rise of the new DIY culture, and shows the way it differs in from place to place. And although we wish they would have brought it sooner (the movie goes to DVD on November 3rd), we are glad the Naro decided to bring it in for a one-time showing this Saturday.

If you’re looking for something a little different this week, you should definitely make the time to come see Strangers on a Train at the Kaufman Theatre. Besides being a fantastic film (and arguably one of Alfred Hitchcock’s best), it should serve to compliment the O. Winston Link photography show going on right now.

If you wanted to see this documentary when it was released into theatres, you would have had to been in New York or Los Angeles last Spring. It did screen much later at the Naro, but managed to slip under our radar. If you missed it before, it has recently been released on DVD and it’s definitely worth seeing.
