We haven’t been to India yet, but it’s def­i­nitely on our list of places to visit. For now, we’re con­tent to check out the new book To India with Love: From New York to Mum­bai and be inspired by it’s long list of fash­ion­able travelers.

Handmade Nation

With the suc­cess of sites like Etsy in the last few years, and with groups like the Sev­enCi­ties Crafters pop­ping up all over the U.S., it was only a mat­ter of time before a doc­u­men­tary like Hand­made Nation showed up. The film doc­u­ments the rise of the new DIY cul­ture, and shows the way it dif­fers in from place to place. And although we wish they would have brought it sooner (the movie goes to DVD on Novem­ber 3rd), we are glad the Naro decided to bring it in for a one-time show­ing this Saturday.

Strangers on a Train

If you’re look­ing for some­thing a lit­tle dif­fer­ent this week, you should def­i­nitely make the time to come see Strangers on a Train at the Kauf­man The­atre. Besides being a fan­tas­tic film (and arguably one of Alfred Hitchcock’s best), it should serve to com­pli­ment the O. Win­ston Link pho­tog­ra­phy show going on right now.

Valentino: The Last Emperor

If you wanted to see this doc­u­men­tary when it was released into the­atres, you would have had to been in New York or Los Ange­les last Spring. It did screen much later at the Naro, but man­aged to slip under our radar. If you missed it before, it has recently been released on DVD and it’s def­i­nitely worth seeing.
