Sophie Theallet

27 December 2009

SophieThealletOne of our favorite dresses from the runway this season is Sophie Theallet’s red, geometric print dress. You should know this designer by now — especially since she has had such an exciting year: she was recently named the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner, and she outfitted Michelle Obama. With a strong technical background, this French-born, Brooklyn-based designer has an impeccably made collection that you should check out.

For 2010, Theallet has a number of amazing silhouettes. She has full-skirted dresses, straight shifts, asymmetrical tops, and shirt dresses. But even her shirt dresses have something new and updated about them — maybe it’s the colors or just the perfectly belted waists.

Colors for her collection include black & white prints with solid reds, and muted slate blue livened up with orange silk collars. Belts range from just solid silk sashes to vintage-inspired thick red leather. On the runway, she styled her feminine outfits perfectly with sandals but they’d look great with oxford flats too.

Check out her entire line here and be inspired by this up-and-coming designer.
