Sophie Theallet
One of our favorite dresses from the runway this season is Sophie Theallet’s red, geometric print dress. You should know this designer by now — especially since she has had such an exciting year: she was recently named the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner, and she outfitted Michelle Obama. With a strong technical background, this French-born, Brooklyn-based designer has an impeccably made collection that you should check out.
For 2010, Theallet has a number of amazing silhouettes. She has full-skirted dresses, straight shifts, asymmetrical tops, and shirt dresses. But even her shirt dresses have something new and updated about them — maybe it’s the colors or just the perfectly belted waists.
Colors for her collection include black & white prints with solid reds, and muted slate blue livened up with orange silk collars. Belts range from just solid silk sashes to vintage-inspired thick red leather. On the runway, she styled her feminine outfits perfectly with sandals but they’d look great with oxford flats too.
