2010 New Year’s Eve Roundup

29 December 2009

newyears

If you’re anything like us, you might be looking forward to seeing 2009 go away. But we’re not going to sit at home idly while Dick Clark sends it off either — we’re going to ring in 2010 in the wildest, most fun way we can find. So here are some of your choices for making the most of saying goodbye to 2009.

Virginia Beach

We’re going to go ahead and push Croc’s as our sole recommendation at the beach. The food will be great, they’re doing well with the whole eco-friendly vibe, and they’re promoting it as “nothing fancy.” So if you’re looking to ring it in right but still remember your name in the morning, head to the oceanfront.

Norfolk

There’s always plenty of options in Norfolk, but we wanted to cover what a few of our favorites are doing, plus show you something really cool going on.

At the Taphouse in Ghent you’ll find an Americana new year. Rylo, the Muckrakes, and DJ Cornbread (ok, mostly Americana) would each warrant a feature individually, so having them all playing the same night should be fantastic.

The Boot will have one of our absolute favorites, Lord Thomas, spinning his eclectic mix of retro vinyl all night. Enough said.

And last but certainly not least is Loose Lips. Since you’re reading this, you’re probably no stranger to the craziness that has become Loose Lips. But you’re going to love the fact that the party has moved from the bursting at the seams Bar None to an undisclosed warehouse location in Norfolk. Of all the great places we’ve recommended, this our #1 pick for New Year’s Eve 2010.

Unfortunately, online ticket sales have ended. So if you haven’t gotten your tickets already, you’ll have to take your chances at the door. Still, go. It will be worth it. Sign up as one of their facebook friends to find out where to be New Year’s Eve.

There you go.

We hope you have an insanely fun night. Thanks again for supporting us here at Boxed City as we come up on the one-year mark. We hope you’ve enjoyed having us in your inbox and in your web browser telling you all the great things happening around town.
